The Drowning Man

One evening a man went fishing on a boat with his grandfather and his grandfather's friend. After
fishing, for hours and hours, they decided it was time to pack up and head back to the camp. When
they arrived at the shore the man wanted to be the one to pull the boat in. The man thought he could
do this with ease, since the man had watched his brother and father pull the boat into the shore several times before.
Once they arrived at the shore the man jumped off the boat to pull the boat onto the shore. Apparently, when the man jumped off the boat his foot had slept and the man got sucked under the boat. The grandfather had noticed what had happened and turned off the boat before the man got hurt. The man finally got out from under the boat, but he was still flailing around because he was afraid that he was going to drown. Now the mans grandfather and his grandfather's friend was just looking at the man hoping he would realize that he could be above the water if he would have just got on his knees. The other people who were drunk and pulling their boats onto the shore looked at the man and asked the grandfather why they let someone who was drunk pull their boat in. After the grandfather told the drunk onlookers that the man was not drunk the drunk onlookers wondered why the man would not just sit up in order to be out of the water.
Finally the man got out of the water and finished pulling the boat onto the shore. When they finally made it back to the camp grounds the grandfather told the rest of the family about what had happened to the man. From that day forward whenever there was mention of a boat the man knew the story about how he almost drowned in a puddle would be told and it was all because the moment something potentially life threatening happens to you then you lose all reasoning and do not realize how simple it would be to save yourself.
